Sooner or Later was released in 1994. It was one of the first multimedia capable music CDs in Australia, or the world for that matter. (Sooner or Later is discussed here and here in two pages of a document about the historical development of such CDs in Australia.) It has the usual assortment of re-mixes one finds on a CD single, but if you put it in your computer you get a whole lot more. There's the Sooner or Later video; a 'behind the scenes' video; biographies of each band member (text, still photographs, and video), an interactive 'press conference', a Girlfriend discography, various other video sequences, and more.
It runs using Quicktime, both Mac and Windows 3.1 versions of which are included on the CD.
THIS CD IS GREAT!!! In 1997 at least, it could still be ordered new, and I urge you to rush out and buy a copy now, while you still can. It's a great song, a great video, and the whole package is entertaining, fun and great value. Being one of the first CDs of its type, it is also of historic interest.

6.11.1998 update - Unfortunately this CD can no longer be ordered from the record company. The tape is still listed, but probably isn't really available >>> and anyway, it doesn't have any of the multimedia stuff. :-(
| !!! If you use Windows 95 you may have trouble using this CD. The CD was designed for Windows 3.1 and Mac. It also runs under OS/2 (using Win-OS/2). But several people have reported that Windows 95 is unable to recognise anything on this CD other than the audio tracks. It appears that the problem occurs with Win95B and Win 98. Win95A seems OK. If I find out anything further, I will post it here. |
