Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 to use APANA WA's Proxy Server

• Close all programs you have been running
• Click the "Start" Button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen
• Click "Settings" and then "Control Panel". A Window will be displayed:

• Double click on the "Internet Options" icon (you may have to use the Up/Down scroll bar to find this icon). The following Window will be displayed:

• In the white box in the "Home Page" section (next to "Address:"), enter "" as your starting home page. This will serve as a good starting point for your World Wide Web adventures!
• Click on the "Connections" Tab at the top of this window, the following Window will then be displayed:

• Click on your APANA Connection in the white "Dial-up settings" box - it will be highlighted to indicate it has been selected. Set this as your default connection, by clicking the "Set Default" bar.
• Click the "Settings" bar to the right of the white "Dial-up settings" box. The following Window will be displayed:

• In the section labelled "Proxy Server", click the small white box to the left of the text "Use a proxy server", you will notice that it is now tickedIn the section labelled "Proxy Server", click the small white box to the left of the text "Use a proxy server", you will notice that it is now ticked
• Click the "Advanced" bar to the right of "Port:". The following Window will be displayed:

• In the section labelled "Servers", enter

  proxy.wa.apana.org.au

  in the white box to the right of "HTTP:". Enter

  8080

  (eight thousand and eighty) in the white box immediately below "Port". You do not need to fill in any of the other white boxes
• If using our 56k dialup lines, you must enter

  proxy-56k.wa.apana.org.au

  and port

  80

  (eighty), above.
• Click the small white box to the left of "Use the same proxy server for all protocols". You will notice it is now ticked
• Click OK twice
• If you have setup your computer to connect to APANA WA's 15 minute number as well, you will need to configure it also to use APANA WA's Proxy Server. Simply follow the steps from Diagram 3 again, for each other connection you wish to configure. Please note that you need only set you main connection to APANA WA as your default
• Once all your connections are configured, continue to click OK until you are back at Diagram 1. Close the Control Panel Window by clicking the small "X" in the top right hand corner
